WORLD RECORD

Al-Nassr set world record for longest scoring run in national leagues!

Yesterday, Al-Nassr Riyadh set a new world record for the longest consecutive scoring streak in a domestic league.
The match against Al-Khaleej (1-1) marked the 94th Saudi League game in a row in which Cristiano Ronaldo’s team found the back of the net.
The last time Al-Nassr failed to score was on December 1, 2023 (a 0–3 defeat to Al-Hilal). The record-breaking streak began in the matchday following that defeat—on December 8, 2023 (a 4–1 win over Al-Riyadh).
Inspired by the iconic Portuguese star, the team has scored in their last 19 league matches of the 2023–24 season, in all 34 matches of the 2024–25 and 2025–26 seasons, and has now started the new season—which has seen seven rounds played so far—in the same vein.
It should be noted here that Al-Nassr’s run includes the match against Al-Orobah on February 28, 2025, in which they were awarded a 3–0 technical victory. The original match had ended in a 2–1 win for Al-Orobah.
Now, Al-Nassr’s goal is to become the first team in football history to reach the milestone of scoring in 100 consecutive league matches.
The previous record was held by Argentina’s River Plate—93 such games between September 1936 and June 1939. As you can see, that record stood for a very long time.
Interestingly, another Saudi super-club, Al-Hilal, recently challenged River Plate’s record. They fell just five matches short; Al-Hilal’s streak ended at 88 games on February 2, 2026, following a 0–0 home draw against Al-Ahli.
The world record for the longest scoring streak across all official competitions belongs to Northern Ireland’s Glentoran, with 115 matches. This is also a long-standing record. Al-Nassr is unlikely to challenge it, as during their impressive league streak they played matches in other competitions where they failed to score.
The table details the five best high-scoring club streaks in national leagues worldwide in the history of football.
Only leagues ranked in the global top 100 according to the IFFHS rankings were considered.
