Lewandowski: the third in XXI CENTURY
This month, Robert Lewandowski became the third player in XXI century to score 700 goals in top-level games. (picture RL with his 4 IFFHS Awards won in 2021 !)
He reached this milestone on 10 August in the Leagues Cup game for his new club Chicago Fire vs Santos Laguna (3-1). His current career tally is already 701.
The 38-year old Pole followed Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi who scored their 700th goals on 14 October 2019 and 30 June 2020 respectively.
In the entire history of football, RL9 is the 7th player to register 700+ top-level goals (excluding Alf Quill and Erwin Helmchen who scored vast majority of their goals in regional competitions though they were formally first-tier in that era).
