Simón’s record streaks stopped by Belgium
Belgium, by Charles De Ketelaere’s goal, ended two longest goalkeeping runs in World Cup history in 41st minute of the quarter-final game vs Spain.
Spain’s custodian Unai Simón (picture) fixed his world records at 6 clean sheets in a row and at 649 minutes of play without conceding.
Simón started his streak in the 2022 edition (159 minutes, since Spain’s final group match against Japan) and added 490 minutes in the current edition.
The former record belonged to Walter Zenga (Italy, 1990) who held up 516 minutes without conceding a goal in 1990.
