Lionel Scaloni has equaled the record for the number of World Cup final appearances by a coach (two), a record set by Vittorio Pozzo in 1938 and subsequently matched by five others.
For five of the seven record-coholders, including Scaloni, these final appearances occurred in consecutive World Cup tournaments.
Mario Zagallo stands out as a unique case; the two finals he reached with Brazil were separated by a span of 28 years.
Bilardo and Beckenbauer are the only pair of coaches to have faced each other in two consecutive finals.
Pozzo remains the only coach to have won both finals; Scaloni now has the chance to match this unique achievement.
