Yamal in company of Pele and Mbaye
A goal scored by Lamine Yamal for Spain vs Saudi Arabia at the age of 18 years and 343 days, made him the third youngest player to score both in a World Cup and in continental cup for nation (Euro).
He is behind Pelé (who achieved it at 18 years and 138 days) and Ibrahim Mbaye (18 years and 143 days).
Mbaye, like Yamal, Made this feat in 2026. His goal in AFCON for Senegal early this year saw him 17 years and 344 days old; on 16 June, he scored again in World Cup.
Pelé, after establishing in 1958 his record as World Cup’s youngest ever scorer (still standing), scored also in Copa America next year.

*He is now the 2nd youngest goal-scorer for Spain in World Cup history, after Gavi (18 years 110 days in 2022).
Considered as Messi’s heir, Yamal scored his first World Cup goal 13 days earlier than him.
*Yamal became the 2nd youngest player to score the opening goal of a match in the history of the World Cup, after Pele (17 years 241 days vs Wales in 1958).
