Fabian Ruiz joined “Club” of World Cup & UCL winners in same season

Fabian Ruiz became the most triumphant player of the 2025-26 season as he won the Champions League (with PSG) and the World Cup (with Spain).
He is the 13th player to achieve such feat, including the European Cup era (1955-1992).
More than half of them (7) came from the same season 1973-74 when Bayern Munich formed a backbone of Bundesteam at their World Cup triumph on the home soil.
One of those 7, Jupp Kapellmann, didn’t play at World Cup 1974 a single minute but still is a winner of the competition.
Since then, every World Cup season added not more than one player to the list.
10 players out of 13 appeared in the final of both competitions. Other exceptions are Sami Khedira (missed the 2014 World Cup final with Germany) and Julián Álvarez (missed te 2022-23 UCL final with Manchester City).
