THE WORLD REFEREE HONORED

CLEMENT TURPIN HONORED BY IFFHS

On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the “Loi Lamour” (a landmark piece of French sports legislation), a special moment took place this Monday, October 19, 2026, at the headquarters of the French Football Federation, honoring the excellence of French officiating.

Clément Turpin was presented with the trophy for the world’s best male referee of 2025—an honor organized by the IFFHS (International Federation of Football History & Statistics) since 1987.

The trophy was presented by Robert Ley, Senior Vice President, representing the IFFHS, during an evening that held great symbolic significance for the entire officiating community.

Clément Turpin also addressed the distinguished guests and representatives from the world of officiating, sharing his experiences and his perspective on the role of a referee.

This prestigious award recognizes his exceptional career, his consistency, and his performances at the highest international level.

Furthermore, the achievement is all the more remarkable given that François Letexier—the 2024 recipient—tied for second place in the 2025 rankings, further cementing the standing of French officiating on the global stage.
