Rangel’s run without conceding since debut, longest in XXI Century
Mexico goalkeeper Raúl Rangel, making his World Cup debut in 2026, did not concede a goal until his fifth match (a 2–3 loss to England). He maintained a clean sheet for 383 minutes from the moment of his tournament debut.
This is the longest such streak for a debutant goalkeeper at the World Cup in the XXI century and the fifth-longest in the competition’s history.
Walter Zenga, who began the 1990 World Cup campaign, the first in his career, with a 516-minute streak, remains the record-holder in this category.
Until recently, Zenga also held the absolute all-time record for the longest run without conceding at World Cup, a mark that was eventually surpassed by Unai Simón.
