Bayern’s scoring record for Top 5 in XXI century

In the 2025–26 season, Bayern set a new scoring record for Europe’s top five leagues in the XXI century: 122 goals in a single domestic league season.
The Munich club surpassed the achievement of Real Madrid, who scored 121 goals in the 2011–12 season.
They also shattered the long-standing Bundesliga record set in 1971–72; that season, a legendary Bayern squad featuring Gerd Müller and Franz Beckenbauer had found the net 101 times (the only other instance of a Bundesliga club reaching a triple-digit goal tally—exactly 100—was the 2019–20 season, again by Bayern, under the management of Hansi Flick as they secured the treble).
In the all-time ranking of the top five European leagues, Bayern’s current feat ranks fourth (see table). At the same time, thanks to the relatively low number of matches in the Bundesliga, the club boasts a much higher average scoring rate (3.588 goals per game) than any other club at the top of this list.
The Bayern’s prolific campaign marked only the fifth time in history that a club from the “top five” leagues scored more than 120 goals in a single domestic league season.
The only league not represented in this list is the French league, where the highest tally remains the 118 goals scored by Racing Paris in the 1959–60 season (in 38 matches).
The two all-time highest totals—128 and 127 goals—both occurred during the same season (1930–31) and in the same league (the English league). The record belongs to Aston Villa, while the second-highest tally to Arsenal.
