Jonathan David: first host nation hat-trick at World Cup in 60 years!
Canada’s Jonathan David became in the game vs Qatar (6-0) the 6th player in the history of the World Cup to score a hat-trick while representing a host nation, and the first to do so in 60 years, since Geoff Hurst for England in the legendary 1966 World Cup final.
*David’s hat-trick is the 2nd scored by a Juventus player in the history of the World Cup.
Only Paolo Rossi had achieved this feat before, against Brazil in the 3-2 quarter-final victory in 1982.
*David is just the second player to score a World Cup hat-trick for a non-European or non-South American team, after USA’s Bert Patenaude who scored the very first hat-trick in the competition history, in 1930 against Paraguay.
